The Student Enrolment Centre of the University of Johannesburg consists of four divisions:
1. Biographics
Enrolment Centre’s Biographic division processes applications for admission by capturing data submitted on application forms and collating the documents required for selection. The biographic division is also responsible for application document management and indexing on the document management system (Perceptive Content).  In addition, the biographic division is also responsible for all data integrity regarding student records on the student information system (ITS) of the University.
2. Selections
The Selections division assesses applications and places local candidates into their respective choice of study field. The selections division is also responsible for processing Postgraduate and Continues Education Programmes at application phase – selection is done at the relevant Faculty/Department.International selections (now located within the Internationalisation Office) assists and places international candidates into their respective choice of study fields and ensures the compliance of applications in meeting the standards of the Department of Home Affairs and the University.
3. Contact Centre

The Contact Centre located within SEC is responsible for frontline and call centre enquiries; and functions to provide a high quality of client service to all applicants, students, university stakeholders, parents and other external clients. The two components that make up the Contact Centre are:

  1. The Call Centre with agents who have a holistic view and comprehensive knowledge of the university and its rules and regulations. In addition, systems and software are used by the agents to ensure that accurate information is disseminated to clients.
  2. The Information Desk at APK attends to all walk-in enquiries as well as attend to clients/prospective students who apply online within the Cyber Centre at SEC.

The Contact Centre uses voice, email, webchat and a chatbot to communicate with UJ clients and is dependant on Faculties, Departments and other Divisions for updated information as well as their latest processes. This avoids providing clients with incorrect information.

4. Student Marketing

The Student Marketing Department, as part of  Student Enrolment Centre, plays a crucial role in promoting the University as a leading, comprehensive institution of Global Excellence and Stature.

Our aim is to assist prospective students, teachers and parents from identified and prioritized schools in making informed decisions in their preference and respective undergraduate fields of study at the University of Johannesburg.

Our services include making presentations to Grade 11 and 12 learners, attending Careers Days and Exhibitions, , hosting of events such as the Top Achievers Open Day, Prescribed work for Matrics, and conducting Campus Tours.

UJ Student Marketers visit schools and advise Life Orientation Teachers, Learners and Parents about courses offered at UJ, the admission requirements, available career opportunities, bursaries (Orange Carpet Campaign), and other benefits, fees, funding options and student life on campus.

Building mutual beneficial relationships with schools through continuous service delivery, dissemination of UJ Marketing material such as the University Prospectus, Faculty Marketing Booklets, Career Workbooks and other important information forms part of our Student Marketing strategy.

As a leader in the 4th Industrial Revolution, the University of Johannesburg’s has incorporated a strong Digital Marketing drive and platform for prospective undergraduate students through Virtual campus tours, Online Subject Choice facility, Career assessments, APS Calculations, Online applications and Study opportunities.
